Weekend Happenings: Family Heirlooms Appraisal Fair at Shaler North Hills Library
Friday, November 15, 2019 | 12:01 AM
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, there will be a Family Heirlooms Appraisal Fair at Shaler North Hills Library.
Pull out those family treasures you’ve always wanted to know more about and have them looked at by expert appraisers. Experts on collectibles, glass, pottery, historic items and more will be on hand to help assess your treasured item and give advice on how to better care for and conduct research on your items.
There is a fee of $5 for each item appraised or 3 for $12. No more than 3 items per person. Money raised supports children’s programs at the library. Registration is requested.
For details or to register, call 412-486-0211 or go to the website at www.shalerlibrary.org.
Free glass recycling
There will be a free glass recycling event on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Shaler Kiwanis Park, 1 Meyer Road, Glenshaw.
All colors of glass bottles and jars are accepted. No window glass, drinking glasses, stemware, or ceramics will be accepted.
Glass is one of the most recyclable materials that we use regularly, but it causes significant contamination problems when mixed into regular curbside single stream recycling. As a result, residents are encouraged to participate in specific glass collection events.
A Friendship Dinner will be held at Nativity Lutheran Church, 4517 Mt. Royal Blvd., Allison Park, on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m. All are welcome. Enjoy turkey and all the fixings. Dinner is free. A donation for charity will be accepted.
Call the church office at 412-487-1071 to make a reservation.
