Join Master Naturalists (in training) and retired educators Pat Milliken and Gil Pielin as their popular Get in Tune with Nature series returns to Shaler North Hills Library on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
This final workshop for the fall emphasizes the ecological role of Pennsylvania mammals using skull analysis.
In this hands-on activity, participants will take measurements of various mammal skulls to determine if it is a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore. Then the group will discuss the reasons behind the placement of the eyes, the function of the teeth, and size and shape of the skull.
The program is free and open to the public, and is geared for ages 14 and up. Please register at 412-486-0211 or online at www.shalerlibrary.org.
