Shaler police warn residents of ‘warrant for your arrest’ scam

Thursday, October 17, 2019 | 6:29 PM

According to the Shaler Township Police Department, there have been multiple reports of residents being called from the police station’s non-emergency phone number, 412-492-2222, telling people there is a warrant out for their arrest.

These scammers might ask you to “Push 1,” for personal information, or pay a fine to avoid being arrested.

This is a scam and police are urging residents not to give any information to these callers and to hangup the phone immediately. These calls are not originating from the Shaler Police Department.

Residents who receive these scam phone calls are welcome to call the police department if they seek reassurance or have questions.
