Even before Gov. Tom Wolf announced that all Pennsylvania schools would close for 10 business days due to coronavirus concerns, Shaler Area School District had already come to the same conclusion and sent out an email to families in the school district that classes would be suspended for two weeks.
After the end of the 10 days officials will reevaluate and make a decision on whether the closures need extended.
Shaler Area will use Flexible Instruction Days during its closure and additional details will be shared with families as the situation evolves.
According to Wolf, schools will not face penalties if they are unable to reach 180 instructional days.
Shaler Area officials are evaluating how this will affect spring break.
