Burchfield Primary School principal Jeff Rojik is the recipient of this year’s Administrator Appreciation Award presented by the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association.
Each year, the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association recognizes school administrators who demonstrate an understanding and support of, commitment to, and belief in the role of school counselors and comprehensive, developmental school counseling programs.
Rojik was nominated by Burchfield Primary school counselor Lezlie DelVecchio-Marks for his support of school counseling in the Shaler Area School District.
In addition to supporting the school’s positive behavior interventions and supports programs, Rojik also co-facilitates the Mega Men group, which promotes social growth for all third-grade male students; is an active member of the Burchfield School Counseling Advisory Council, which helps improve the school counseling program; and attends parent information nights presented by the school counselor.
Rojik also allows students to choose the Halloween costume he will wear as an incentive to help raise money for The Highmark Caring Place and the Burchfield Caring Team, which helps support grieving students.
The award was presented to Rojik during the 64th annual Pennsylvania School Counselors Association Conference, held in Pittsburgh at the end of November.
